Managing Q&A
Managing Q&A
This article explains the Q&A system in Motion Meetings — how participant questions flow from submission to the speaker, and how you configure Selectors to manage that flow.
How the Q&A Flow Works
The Q&A process in Motion Meetings involves three steps:
- Submission — Participants type questions in the Q&A panel in their meeting view.
- Selection — A Selector reviews the submitted question list in the Screening Room and makes the editorial decision about which questions to surface to the speaker and in what order.
- Response — Speakers see the queued questions in their Q&A panel and respond live.

ScreenshotAssigning the Selector Role
To enable moderated Q&A, assign at least one person as a Selector. The Selector handles both screening and queuing.
- Go to the Participants section of your meeting.
- Add or edit the relevant participants.
- Set their role to Selector.
- These participants will receive a unique magic link that takes them directly to the Screening Room when the meeting starts.
💡 Tip
For large meetings, assign 2–3 Selectors to share the workload. Each Selector sees the full queue and can divide the incoming submissions between them.
The Organizer's View of Q&A
As an organizer, you can monitor Q&A from the Q&A panel in the organizer console. You see all submitted questions and their current status.
- You can queue any question directly, bypassing the Selector if needed.
- You can pin a question to push it to the top of the speaker's queue.
- You can mark a question as answered.

Configure Q&A behavior in your meeting settings:
- Anonymous Submissions — Allow participants to submit questions without their name being shown to Selectors.
- Q&A Open/Closed — You can pause Q&A submissions at any time from the live meeting panel by toggling Q&A on or off.
- Participant Upvoting — Allow participants to upvote questions submitted by others. High-upvoted questions surface to the top of the screening queue.
Best Practices for Large Meetings
- Assign 2–3 Selectors for meetings with over 200 participants to handle the volume.
- Brief your Selectors before the meeting on what question topics are appropriate for the session.
- Use the "Anonymous Submissions" setting to encourage more candid questions when appropriate.
- Open Q&A only when you are ready to begin the Q&A session, to avoid questions piling up during the presentation.
