How Q&A Works from the Speaker Side

How Q&A Works from the Speaker Side

This article explains how questions from participants reach you as a Speaker, how to view the question queue, and how to mark questions as answered during the live meeting.

The Q&A Pipeline

As a Speaker, you do not see every question submitted by participants. Questions go through a moderation process before reaching you:

  1. Participants submit questions from the main meeting room.
  2. Selectors review the submissions, approve appropriate ones, and choose which to add to your queue.
  3. You see only the questions that selectors have chosen — these are in your Q&A Queue.

This process ensures you are not overwhelmed with raw submissions and can focus on responding to the most relevant questions.

Accessing the Q&A Queue

  1. In the meeting interface (either Speaker Room or main room), click the Q&A icon in the right-side panel toolbar.
  2. The Q&A panel opens, showing all questions that selectors have queued for you.
  3. Questions appear in the order they were queued. Pinned questions (marked urgent by the organizer) appear at the top.

Responding to a Question

Motion Meetings does not require you to type responses — you respond verbally in the meeting. When you have finished answering a question:

  1. Click Mark as Answered on the question card.
  2. The question moves to the Answered tab in the Q&A panel.
  3. The next question in the queue rises to the top.

💡 Tip

Read the question aloud before answering so that all participants (including phone participants) can hear what you are responding to. This also helps with the meeting recording and minutes.

Deferring a Question

If you want to skip a question temporarily and return to it later:

  1. Click the Defer button on the question card.
  2. The question moves to the bottom of the queue and is flagged as deferred.
  3. You can return to it after addressing the other queued questions.

What Happens After the Meeting

After the meeting ends, the organizer has access to a full Q&A transcript that includes all questions, their status (answered, deferred, rejected), and the submitter details. This transcript can be included in the meeting minutes.
