Your Role as a Selector

Your Role as a Selector

This article explains the Selector role in Motion Meetings — what it does and how it shapes the Q&A experience during a live AGM.

The Selector Role

A Selector is the editorial decision-maker for Q&A. During a live meeting, participants submit questions through the Q&A panel. The Selector reviews that list and decides which questions to surface to the speaker — and in what order. This is a judgment call, not just a filter: the Selector weighs what's most relevant, most timely, and most representative of what the room wants to hear.

What Selectors Do

  • Review the list of questions submitted by participants during the meeting
  • Choose which questions to send to the speaker's Q&A panel
  • Set the order in which the speaker sees them
  • Direct questions to a specific speaker when multiple speakers are presenting
  • Remove questions from the speaker queue if priorities change

The Judgment Call

The Selector's job is inherently political and contextual. A good Selector listens to the meeting audio while watching the question list, and considers:

  • Is this question relevant to what the speaker is currently discussing?
  • Does this question represent a concern many participants share?
  • Is there a better moment later in the agenda to surface this question?
  • Has the speaker already addressed this topic?

There are no automatic filters — every decision about what goes to the speaker goes through the Selector.

How You Are Invited

The organizer adds you to the participant list with the Selector role. You receive a personalized magic link by email. When you click it, you land in the Screening Room — a dedicated interface that shows the submitted question list and the speaker queue.

💡 Tip

Join the Screening Room before the meeting starts. Review the interface so you're ready when questions start coming in — you want to be watching the queue from the moment Q&A opens.

What You See in the Screening Room

The Screening Room is a dedicated view focused entirely on Q&A management. You do not see the main meeting video by default, but you can hear the meeting audio — use it to stay synchronized with what the speaker is covering so you can surface questions at the right moment.
